Wellbeing in Focus

COVID-19 has resulted in many of us having to completely change the way we live, work and interact with each other. While everybody’s situation is different there is no denying that we are all experiencing some level of uncertainty in our lives due to this so called “new normal” that we must adapt to.

Over the course of the last 4 months at Aramark, we have brought in a number of initiatives to understand and improve the mental health of our employees, colleagues, customers, and clients.

Mental Health – Internal facing initiatives

Take 15 Coffee Break

As part of our ongoing mental wellbeing campaign, Take 15, we launched an internal playbook for employees to connect with teams and colleagues, including those currently on furlough. This playbook offered suggestions on various ways groups could connect, from ice breakers, to scavenger hunts, quizzes and cupcake challenges. The goal was to maintain a social connection between teams and help ease self-isolation and loneliness

Employee Wellbeing during COVID survey

Aramark launched an Employee wellbeing during COVID survey to understand the anxieties and concerns among all our employees regarding their mental wellbeing through lockdown – including those who are furloughed, working from home or at base site. The results of the survey are being used to develop tools to support our employees on their return to work.

Aramark Employee Wellness Guides

Digital wellbeing guides were created, encompassing mental and physical wellbeing strategies, support for working on the frontline and released to ALL Aramark employees. The detail included information on the EAP platform available, mental health support, resilience webinars, nutrition and activity tips, working from home and and provided to our employees via localised guides for NI, ROI and UK.

Walk For Wellness

Activity wellbeing initiative set up to promote connectivity and physical wellbeing throughout lockdown.

We initiated a Step Challenge on 4th May, which well surpassed its’ original target of walking across Europe – a goal of 6,751,316 steps – achieved in just a 10 day period. With internal Aramark employees, , families, we then went one step further to achieve an astounding 26,248,148 steps over a 3-week period, walking from Belmullet, Co. Mayo (IE), across the breadth of the globe before reaching Hawaii. A fantastic and hugely well-received achievement by all.
